Margins

Margins are the whitespace around a plot area. Both the margins and the plot area are configured using the settings file.

Margins are the spaces where information is displayed about the chart - its title, the legend, etc. Margins are very important for a custom chart layout. For example:

• If the values on a Y-axis don't fit on the chart, you need to adjust the left margin (if the Y-axis is on the left) or the right margin (if the Y-axis is on the right).
• If the chart title is too long for the space it is given, you need to adjust the top margin.
• If the legend doesn't fit into its default position, you need to adjust the bottom margin.
